Tello has simply removed funds from existing long standing member accounts overnight without notification; no exaggeration. Do a search to read up for what they have done en masse to customers. Any requests for assistance is met with "our terms have changed" which they specifically state they have the right to do anytime however they want. That's it. No assistance, no service at all, tough luck they say. First they raised the minimum deposit from $10 to $20 and offered double sign up bonus $20 all the while knowing that within months they would change the terms so that instead of activity on the line, customers would need to deposit funds or plan sign up within every 90 days. After getting your money, it disappears overnight with an email - no courtesy notification! Along with your balance and your number. I would not trust them with a penny and many others are finding out the same. #1 Do a search about them before giving them any money... and then run in the opposite direction. The industry will be better off when they disappear.
The best and the fair price on the market just to have phone #.
Unfortunately, quality of phone calls and internet is really poor. That’s why I use google phone # over Wi-Fi for all my calls, and this # only for emergency - an ideal solution for me for a good $

So easy and flexible!! Phone service should have always worked this way
I was really skeptical about Tello. I mean HOW can it be true? It sounds too good to be true, and when it sounds too good to be true, it's because it's not true. But this time, it is! Instead of shelling out $180/month to Verizon, for a monthly plan of two phones, with only 1GB of SHARED data, and unlimited text and talk ... Now I'm paying a total of $36 for both of us for an even better plan, including 2GB EACH with unlimited T/T. I could get more GB of data but I'm not the type who watches movies and listens to music on my iPhone -- I've got the proper devices for doing such things elsewhere. I don't need to be constantly entertained. The network being used is that of Sprint, which now has merged with T-Mobile. So it's got rather good coverage. I think it might not be quite as good as Verizon, but that appears to be not a problem for people like me who don't really travel a lot. Or it could be just about the same at this point. All I know is I'm not paying exorbitant fees for a phone bill anymore. I'm saving over $150/month. Dang right.
The area-coverage may not be perfect, but it it works well enough where I live (it often struggles to connect when I travel to more rural areas). And the data generally works well. So for the pick-your-plan pricing, there's no better option.
I'm glad I saw the ad for Tello. I was able to easily switch from my previous prepaid carrier and take my old number and phone with me to my new service. So far everything has worked great and what's even better, is the additional savings I have every month. I highly recommend!
Have never had any issues with the company or the service.
My son found this company a little over one year ago. We were looking for a low priced cell phone service given that all people in our family do not really use very much data and we mostly use WiFi. We currently have 2 phones with Tello, with two more phones coming.
Once I started calling the customer support to ask technical information, I could believe their level of support, for such a low monthly price. For starters, someone answers the phone within a minute maximum 2 minutes. The big companies do not have this response time, I guarantee you. Try calling Comcast or Spectrum for starters and see how long you wait until you talk to a human.
In addition I want to give many thanks to Edgar and Stela (from the Bolivia call center) as well as Michael (Mihai) from the Romania call center. There are other people that I talked to over the last year, but I am sorry I do not remember their names, however they were all great.
As far as coverage it is very good. We did not have any issues where we live in Minnesota, or any other state that we traveled through all the way to Florida.
I will recommend Tello, to anyone that I know because they deserve it.
After we got past the unlocking of the phones, everything has been smooth sailing. We have had no problems at all and of course, we hope it continues this way. And I can only say great things about the customer service!
Tello used to be superb, once of those providers you recommend without hesitation. Great rates, good plans, and a customer-friendly policy (no balance expiration, pay what you use, none of the gotchas like other big carriers).
Then after T-Mobile took over Sprint, something changed. They quietly changed policies and started enforcement without notifying customers (confiscation of unused balance deposited under old terms and expiring dormant # with balance). CS tells you one thing that's contradicted by their terms, resulting in lost of balance or phone #. Random enforcement of terms on some lines, while others are not touched. Policies that work against heavy usage (you don't want to leave too much balance on the line as they expire after 90s days regardless of use), which lead to inability to depend on the line for primary use (have to redeposit for continual use). Very short-sighted.
It's like they want to make up for lost time and anger as many loyal customers as they can.
Still decently cheap and has it's niche, but hard to recommend with the inconsistent haphazard policies.
Since I am retired and needs are limited to basic phone calls this service is adequate and the price is hard to beat...that being said, coverage is severely restricted, I rarely get more than 3 bars and any kind of video or streaming is near impossible.
